Over the last 30 years or so, Judy and I have found that the greatest joy of this spectacularly beautiful place and these marvelous animals is in sharing them. We have kind of an eclectic herd. The mares we ride (Belle, Bunny, and Bitsy) were bred for the sport of cutting. They're on the small side, but athletic, smart, and handy. Beau is a Mustang from the Cedar Mountain Herd Management Area here in Utah. He's HUGE for a mustang, and is able to carry a bigger load than the girls.

The babies -- Goose and India -- were born in 2021 and are just now joining the trail riding crew. I ride them, but I'm not ready to put guests on them yet.

Hobble Creek Outfitters operates on a ranch at the north end of the Left Hand Fork of Hobble Creek Canyon in Utah County, Utah. Our family started ranching at the end of the canyon in 1901. Hobble Creek Outfitters operates on a ranch at the north end of the Left Hand Fork of Hobble Creek Canyon in Utah County, Utah. Our family started ranching at the end of the canyon in 1901. Originally homesteaded by Edwin Whiting My great-great-grandfather and his two sons acquired the ranch intending to raise sheep. When they got to the train depot, the train from Denver carried only cattle. Today, my uncle and cousin continue to raise the descendants of those same cattle.
On our side of the road, we raise horses, kids, and spirits. The trails on our ranch elevate the rider, not only from to the 6700 feet above sea level, but to a perspective of the world and life that reminds us how much God must love His children to have created such a spectacular world for us to enjoy and care for.
