You'll come to our ranch in Hobble Creek Canyon where I will introduce you to the horse you'll be riding. I will explain the equipment we use, help you get the saddle fitted to your needs, and demonstrate how to ride the horse and use the equipment. After a short lesson in a confined area, we will venture out onto the trails on the ranch. I will tailor the ride to your experience and comfort level; from a calm ride with me leading your horse through the meadow, to an adventurous mountain trail ride.
The ride will take place entirely on private property in an area of exclusive and beautiful estate ranches.
The experience, including orientation, lesson, and ride, will last an hour or two, depending on what you book.
Participants will be required to sign a release acknowledging the inherent risks of equine activities consistent with Utah Code Annotated Section 78B-4-201 et seq.
Other things to note:
Dress for the weather. We reserve the right to cancel if the weather presents a danger. Otherwise, we ride!
Also be aware that, for the most part there is no cell reception in the canyon. We'll send you detailed directions on how to get to the ranch and it's important that you review those directions before you need them. Most phones will continue navigating after you lose cell service, but you won't be able to start navigating once you've lost your signal.
Weight limits may apply.
Rooted deep in Hobble Creek Canyon, our ranch was first homesteaded by Edwin Whiting and his family in the 1880s and our family has been carving out a life as beautiful and rugged as the surrounding mountains since my grandfather's grandfather came here in 1901. The neighbors have changed some over the years, but the land remains —oak-covered hills, quiet meadows, and a way of life that’s been passed down through generations.
Our lower pasture sits above the valley floor, hidden from the main road, a wide open space where we raise horses and watch the seasons roll through. The horses carry us over the trails up the mountainside through the gambel oak, gaining about 800 feet of elevation to Toad Bench— where the woods are broken up by a mix of small clearings and a big sagebrush flat where we'll often encounter elk grazing on their last few bites of breakfast before bedding down for day.
Today, the ranch remains a place where tradition meets adventure wrapped in timeless beauty. .
